Not Dead and Not for Sale: The Earthling Papers by Scott Weiland and David Ritz is a memoir that covers Scott Weiland's life from the time when he was just a little child up until around the year 2011.



For the most part, this book is told in chronological order. Scott takes us back to his early childhood, school life, and his athletic abilities.



He discusses his relationship with God, his first band-Soi Disant, and other gigs, first love affairs and relationships, and finally from the start of the band Mighty Joe Young into Stone Temple Pilots.



One incredible aspect with Scott's writing here is the information given about the records, covers, and many of the song meanings. There are also many tidbits given that offer insight into what was going on with the band.

Scott Richard Weiland (, WY-lənd; né Kline; October 27, 1967 – December 3, 2015) was an American singer and songwriter. He was best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Stone Temple Pilots from 1989 to 2003 and again from 2008 to 2013, recording six albums with them. Weiland is also known for being the lead vocalist of the rock supergroup Velvet Revolver from 2003 to 2008. He also released one album with rock supergroup Art of Anarchy in 2015, as well as four solo studio albums and several collaborations with other musicians throughout his career.

Weiland was noted for his flamboyant and chaotic onstage persona, his consistently changing appearance, and his versatile vocal style. He also became known for his use of a megaphone for a unique vocal effect during concerts. He sold over 50 million albums with his various projects and collaborations.
