Genevieve Didion was born in 1897 in the Sacramento Valley, where her family had settled in the late 1800s.
Genevieve Didion played an active role on the Commission, which worked to raise funds, secured land for the memorial, and oversaw the development of the statue.
Joan Didion was an American writer and journalist.

Short Bio: I grew up in Sacramento, California, with my mom, Susan, my dad, Ed, and my brother, David. I went to Genevieve Didion Elementary and Middle School, graduating in 1997 and then went to Jesuit High School where I graduated in 2001. In December 2004 I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, majoring in Business Administration, concentrating in International Business Management and Marketing Management. After working for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for a year I decided it was time to move back to Sacramento. I am now an Assistant Account Executive at Perry Communications Group, Inc, where we are "Defining Tomorrow’s Issues Today^SM, with offices in Sacramen
