Born in Leeds, England, in 1907, Leonard Ravenhill was a young lad who eventually came to faith in Christ. His late adolescence and young adulthood were influenced greatly by one of the most influential preachers of his day, Samuel Chadwick. While as a student at Cliff College, young Ravenhill experienced the holiness and presence of God. He put himself out there preaching God’s Word to thousands of unchurched Brits. Over the course of those summer itinerant tours, Ravenhill and other fellow students banded together and were used by God to shake the very soul of England.
Coming to America
In 1950, Ravenhill came to America. He had become friends with the famous American pastor, A.W. Tozer. Tozer preached at a church in Chicago. Through a chain of events, God called Ravenhill to influence America for revival. For the next 44 years, Leonard poured his heart out calling, praying, and pleading for the Holy Spirit to pour out a fresh revival on the church. Leonard Ravenhill died in 1994 and I am one life greatly influenced by this man.

In Light of Eternity: The Life of Leonard Ravenhill | Mack Tomlinson
LEVEL 2
(*REVISED AND EXPANDED EDITION - 2019)

Chief among these was his life of prayer, his dependency on the Lord, and his zeal for the truth of God. But rather than merely telling us about these realities in the life of Leonard Ravenhill, we are continually impressed with our own need to imitate Ravenhill on these points. Avoiding the pitfalls of spiritual hero-worship, the result is the most powerful and eloquent sort of preaching, a holy, pure, and zealous life. Moreover, this book is not merely a telling of things he did or what happened around him, but a vivid and stirring account of his character and how he became who he was, giving God all t

Leonard Ravenhill was one of Britain’s foremost outdoor evangelists of the 20th century. God used him to help bring thousands of people to Christ throughout Britain. Unlike the case with many of today’s evangelists, the conversions that Leonard helped to bring about were generally lasting conversions. That’s because he did not water down the Gospel when he preached it. Later in life, Leonard and his family moved to the United States, where he worked with Bethany House Publishers. In the 1980s, Leonard and his family moved to a home near Lindale, Texas, a short distance from Last Days Ministries. Leonard regularly taught classes at Last Days Ministries, and he was a mentor to the late Keith Green.
A. W. Tozer, who was a friend of Leonard, said this about Leonard: “To such men as this the church owes a debt too heavy to pay. The curious thing is that she seldom tries to pay him while he lives. Rather, the next generation builds his sepulcher and writes his biography, as if instinctively and awkwardly to discharge an obligation the previous g
