Andrew Alcott Hallett was born on August 4th, 1975 in the small Cape Cod town of Osterville. He attended Barnstable High School and then majored in Business with an emphasis on Management Marketing at Assumption College in Worcester. Despite his characters outgoing persona, Andy was very shy and never sang until Patti LaBelle invited him onstage at a concert at Harborlights in Boston. Patti's praise boosted his confidence and Andy decided to sing more often.

After moving to Los Angeles, Andy held numerous jobs such as a property manager, personal assistant, and a runner for The Radmin Agency. He even landed a few non-speaking roles in a couple of commercials. Then Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, saw Andy sing in a Universal City Blues revue called BB King's and conceived the part of the Host. Months later, Joss approached Andy in an airport and offered him his first big time acting position as the Host on Angel. Ironically, his agent did not sign him until after his first episode.

Andrew Alcott Hallett (August 4, 1975 – March 29, 2009)[1] was an American actor and singer who became known from playing the part of Lorne in the television series Angel (2000–2004). He used his singing talents often on the show, and performed two songs on the series' 2005 soundtrack album, Angel: Live Fast, Die Never.

Hallett was an only child, and hailed from the Cape Cod village of Osterville, Massachusetts, which is part of the town of Barnstable. He was a 1993 graduate from Barnstable High School and he went on to Assumption College in Worcester after graduation.[2]

He was University Professor of Economics and Public Policy at George Mason University, Senior Research Fellow at Kings College (University of London) and Honorary Professor of Economics at the University of St Andrews[3][4][5] He was also a member of the Scottish Growth Commission.

Andrew Hughes Hallett was educated at Radley College.[6] He graduated with a BA (Hons) in economics from the University of Warwick in 1969 and a MSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics in 1971. He was awarded a DPhil in economics by University of Oxford in 1976.[7][8]
