Dana Katherine Scully, M.D., is a fictional character and one of the two protagonists in the Foxscience-fiction, supernatural television series The X-Files, played by Gillian Anderson. Scully is a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Special Agent and a medical doctor (MD), partnered with fellow Special AgentFox Mulder for seasons one to seven and seasons 10 and 11, and with John Doggett in the eighth and ninth seasons. In the television series, they work out of a cramped basement office at FBI headquarters in Washington, DC to investigate unsolved cases labeled "X-Files." In 2002, Scully left government employment, and in 2008, she began working as a surgeon in Our Lady of Sorrows, a private Catholic hospital – where she stayed for seven years, until rejoining the FBI. Melissa Scully is a fictional character and a recurring figure featured in the FOX Network television series The X-Files. Played by actress Melinda McGraw, she was introduced in the eighth episode of season two, "One Breath". The character made three actual appearances in the series, not counting flashback and dream sequences.

Biography[]

Melissa Scully was the daughter of William Scully and Margaret Scully. She was the older sister of Dana Scully. She was born in Annapolis, Maryland in 1962.

In 1995, Dana Scully confided in her sister about an implant that she had discovered in her neck, though she had no idea how it got there. Melissa suggested that she should go see Doctor Mark Pomerantz, who specialized in regression hypno-therapy.

Later, Melissa telephoned Dana to tell her that she was coming over to her apartment. Dana called her back to warn her off, as Dana's life was in danger. When Melissa entered Dana's apartment, she was shot in the head by Alex Krycek, who mistakenly believed that he was shooting Dana. ^[1]

Melissa Scully(Missy) was the sister of Dana Scullyand William Scully, Jr.and the elder daughter of Williamand Margaret. A believer in spirituality and new age mysticism, Melissa was very different from her younger sister, who was a firm believer in hard science.

Following Dana's abduction, and her sudden re-emergence in hospital, Melissa visited her sister, believing she could communicate with Dana spiritually in her comatose state, and to provide strength and support for her. As the condition's of Dana's will stated she did not want to live in this comatose state, Melissa supported her sister's wish for her life support to be terminated, allowing her soul to be free and move on as opposed to being stuck in between life and death.

In 1994, Melissa took a personal trip up and down the west coast and did not communicate with her family during that time, causing a source of stress.
