Levi's, the iconic American denim brand, has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1853. It all began when Bavarian immigrant Levi Strauss partnered with tailor Jacob Davis to create the world's first pair of blue jeans, made with rivets for extra durability. These original "waist overalls" were an instant hit among miners during the California Gold Rush, who needed sturdy clothing for their demanding work.
As demand for Levi's jeans grew, the company expanded its operations and introduced several innovations. In the early 1900s, Levi's introduced the now-famous red Tab label, which became a symbol of quality and authenticity. Claude Lévi-Strauss (klawd LAY-vee STROWSS;^[2]French:[klodlevistʁos]; 28 November 1908 – 30 October 2009)^[3]^[4]^[5] was a French anthropologist and ethnologist whose work was key in the development of the theories of structuralism and structural anthropology.^[6] He held the chair of Social Anthropology at the Collège de France between 1959 and 1982, was elected a member of the Académie française in 1973 and was a member of the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences in Paris. He received numerous honors from universities and institutions throughout the world.
