Nico & Vinz
Nico & Vinz (tidligere Envy[1]) er en rapduo fra Oslo som består av Nicolay Sereba og Vincent Dery. Gruppa ble stiftet i 2009. Gjennombruddet fikk de i 2011 da de vant bandkonkurransen Emergenza i Tyskland. Sangen «One Song» ble en hit, og musikkvideoen vant Spellemannprisen 2011. Duoen ble kåret til Årets spellemann under Spellemannprisen 2014.
Medlemmer
[rediger | rediger kilde]- Kahouly Nicolay "Nico" Sereba (født 1990) er fra Holmlia. Han har ivoriansk far og norsk mor. Han er bror til fotballspiller, Didrik Sereba (f. 1995).
- Vincent «Vinz» Dery (født 1990) er fra Lambertseter, også kalt «Vinzy V». Begge hans foreldre kom til Norge fra Ghana.
Historie
[rediger | rediger kilde]I desember 2010 slapp de mixtapen «Dreamworks: Why not me?» gratis på internett, og kort tid etterpå ble de kåret til Ukas Urørt på NRK P3.[2] De ble invitert til By:Larm i februar 2011, der de opptrådte med liveband og tre kvinnelige korister og fikk gode kritikker.[3]

Nico Sereba of Norwegian-Ivorian origin and Vincent Dery of Ghanaian origin created their music as a fusion of genres as diverse as pop to reggae to soul, having been exposed by the various musical influences of their parents with whom they did recurring trips to the West Coast of Africa. The duo was launched as Envy with its main debut appearance at Emergenza Festival in 2011. They won first place at the Taubertal Open Air Festival World\'s "Emergenza Final" for new emerging artists. Following that success, the duo released the mixtape Dreamworks: Why Not Me under the name Envy. The materials were also made available online through WiMP. Sereba speaks English, Norwegian and French. Dery speaks English, Norwegian and Dagaare.\n', '
